Matthews Loses Bid To Escape Bridge Collapse Suit

Law360, New York (July 16, 2009, 5:57 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has denied Matthews Marine Inc.'s motion to be dismissed from a declaratory judgment suit brought by U.S. Fidelity & Guaranty Co. related to the 2007 collapse of a portion of the Bay St. Louis Bridge in Mississippi.

Judge Louis Guirola Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi on Wednesday rejected Matthews Marine's request to be officially let go from the suit, despite the court previously exonerating the company from liability in the bridge accident.
