Coach Accuses Target Of Copying Its Design

Law360, New York (October 3, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Retailer Target Corp. has distinguished itself by bringing the stylish wares of big-name designers like Isaac Mizrahi to everyday people. Now, it finds itself accused of bringing the designs of luxury accessory maker Coach Inc. to the masses—illegally.

The lawsuit, filed Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, alleges that Target is infringing Coach’s trademark by selling a handbag that imitates the designs of Coach products and bears an imitation of the legendary Coach trademark.
