Walgreen, Equity Co. Can't Dodge Doctor's Work Bias Suit
By Lauraann Wood (January 15, 2019, 9:18 PM EST) -- Walgreen Co. and a Chicago private equity investment company must face a woman's lawsuit claiming they wrongfully fired her from a business she helped create and they now own because they held substantial control over her working conditions, an Illinois federal judge held Tuesday.
U.S. District Judge John Blakey's order rejected Walgreen and Madison Dearborn Partners' argument that pharmacy doctor Lisa Betts' lawsuit failed to plead that she had an employment relationship with the two companies, which purchased the immune globulin therapy company she cofounded in 2004.
