Law360 (January 16, 2019, 2:33 PM EST) -- Butte County in Northern California has sued Pacific Gas & Electric Co. in state court over the deadly wildfire that ravaged the county and killed 86 people last year, alleging the utility disregarded safety to increase its own profits.
The complaint, filed Tuesday, details a history of leaks, fires and explosions surrounding the utility's facilities going back to 1981, saying PG&E has been subject to fines, penalties and convictions over those incidents, but has done nothing to improve its aging infrastructure and keep flammable vegetation clear from its facilities, leading to the devastating Camp Fire that started in November.
