HMO Hauled To Court Over Patient Bias Scheme

Law360 (October 5, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Prosecutors took health maintenance organization Amerigroup Corp. and its Chicago-based subsidiary, Amerigroup Illinois, to federal court on Wednesday, charging them with bilking millions of taxpayer dollars while denying care to pregnant women and the seriously ill in a bid to pocket higher profits.

The allegations stem from a whistleblower lawsuit filed against the companies by Cleveland Tyson, the former vice president of government relations at Amerigroup Illinois.
