AXT, Cree Settle Patent Litigation Over LED Technology

Law360, New York (March 16, 2004, 12:00 AM EST) -- Chip equipment makers Cree Lighting and AXT have settled their litigation over a patent for light-emitting diodes, the companies said Tuesday.

The parties have agreed to dismiss all claims and counterclaims, according to statements released by the companies. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Cree and Boston University had sued AXT in the U.S. Court for the Northern District of California in 2003, alleging that AXT infringed a patent regarding the structure of light-emitting diodes held by Boston University and licensed to Cree.
