Chemtura Seeks To Stall $2.8M CERCLA Suit

Law360, New York (July 27, 2009, 1:44 PM EDT) -- Chemtura Corp. has objected to Quala Systems Inc.'s move to proceed with a suit seeking $2.8 million from the bankrupt chemical manufacturer for the cleanup of a pesticide explosion, arguing that the litigation would unnecessarily interfere with its Chapter 11 case.

In an objection filed on Friday in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York, Chemtura aimed to prevent QSI from obtaining a relief from the automatic stay.
