Judge Gives Go-Ahead To Case Against Credit Lyonnais

Law360, New York (October 5, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A judge said Thursday that a lawsuit accusing French bank Credit Lyonnais SA of funding or helping to fund terrorism should proceed to trial.

Judge Charles P. Sifton said in his ruling that two of three claims in the case against the bank could go forward.

The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York earlier this year, accuses Credit Lyonnais of unlawfully providing or collecting funds it knew would be use for terrorism—namely to fund the Hamas organization....
