Chinese Drywall Exposure: Not Armageddon

Law360, New York (July 30, 2009, 10:56 AM EDT) -- With the recent attention given to Chinese drywall litigation, some experts are coining this outbreak as the “next asbestos.” While there is certainly an influx of filings relating to Chinese drywall litigation, there isn’t going to be the litigation tidal wave similar to asbestos litigation.

Asbestos litigation is profitable because insurance companies have been paying claims based on the illnesses caused by asbestos exposure.

Conversely, with Chinese drywall exposure, insurance companies are attempting to rely on a number of exclusions in current policies to deny claims...
