New Miami FBI Corruption Unit Sets Sights On Latin America

By Carolina Bolado (March 7, 2019, 8:17 PM EST) -- With the announcement of a new international corruption squad, the FBI has signaled an increased focus on Latin America at the same time an anti-corruption movement is sweeping the hemisphere, putting companies that do business in the region on notice they will be under heightened scrutiny, according to global compliance attorneys.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation said Wednesday the new unit will be based in its Miami field office following the success of similar squads in New York, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., that focus on foreign bribery, kleptocracy and international antitrust matters.
