Baxter Settles Ill. Drug Price Fraud Suit For $6.8M

Law360, New York (July 28, 2009, 5:24 PM EDT) -- Baxter Healthcare Corp. has agreed to pay $6.8 million to the state of Illinois to settle allegations that the drugmaker was part of an industrywide plot to overcharge customers for its products, Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan has announced.

The suit in the Cook County, Ill., Circuit Court's Chancery Division remains pending against nearly three dozen pharmaceutical companies.

The state has pulled in more than $26 million in settlement revenue from the case thus far, Madigan said in a statement Monday.
