Hospitals Agree To Settle Antitrust Suit With Washington AG

Law360 (March 18, 2019, 8:55 PM EDT) -- A nonprofit hospital chain and affiliated doctors’ clinic have reached a settlement plan with the Washington attorney general in an antitrust suit accusing them of carrying out anti-competitive deals affecting medical care in the Puget Sound region.

The state has tried since 2017 to convince a federal judge that CHI Franciscan Health System and The Doctors Clinic have broken federal antitrust law through a series of pricing agreements they made three years ago.

Franciscan and TDC had argued the behavior that landed them in court could not be considered illegal because they would have been weakened without the allegedly anti-competitive conduct....
