DirecTV, EchoStar, Dish Sued Over Satellite Patent

Law360, New York (July 30, 2009, 2:31 PM EDT) -- Northpoint Technologies Ltd. has accused DirecTV Group Inc., EchoStar Corp. and Dish Network Corp. of infringing a patent for digital data transmission.

Northpoint filed an amended complaint against the three companies Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas.

The digital television providers have all violated the existing patent in their manufacture, use and sale of low-noise box converters and set-top box products without a proper license, according to the complaint.
