SEC Whistleblowers Net $50M In Third-Largest Single Award

Law360 (March 26, 2019, 8:22 PM EDT) -- Two unidentified whistleblowers were awarded a combined $50 million for helping the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission launch a successful enforcement action, bringing the agency's total payouts to $376 million since it launched the whistleblower program in 2011, the SEC announced Tuesday.

One whistleblower received $13 million, and the other received $37 million — the third-largest single amount paid to a whistleblower after a $49 million payout in a March 2018 enforcement action and a $39 million award in a September action.
