Fed. Circ. OKs Alice Ax Of Electric Vehicle Charging Patents

Law360 (March 28, 2019, 6:11 PM EDT) -- The Federal Circuit on Thursday upheld a lower court’s decision invalidating claims of four patents on electric vehicle charging station technology that ChargePoint Inc. accused rival SemaConnect Inc. of infringing, ruling that they claim only abstract ideas.

The appeals court held that Senior Judge Marvin J. Garbis of the District of Maryland was correct last year when he granted SemaConnect’s motion to dismiss ChargePoint’s suit just three months after the complaint was filed.
