Fraud Suit Against US Pension Trust Heads To Trial

Law360, New York (July 31, 2009, 5:44 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has refused to grant summary judgment motions to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the U.S. Pension Trust Corp. in the SEC's suit alleging the company acted as an illegal broker in its dealings with Latin American mutual fund investors.

Judge Jose E. Martinez denied the motions Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, ruling that there was not sufficient evidence that the company knowingly deceived investors or ran the company as an investment dealer.
