E.U. Telecom Operators Call For Functional Separation

Law360, New York (October 9, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Amid the European Commission’s ongoing crackdown on anti-competitive practices in the telecommunications industry, an association of telecom operators and their suppliers is calling for regulators to be given the power to enable “functional separation” among market incumbents.

The European Competitive Telecommunications Association said Monday it plans to make a bid for all telecom regulators in the Europe Union to have the power to make functional separation at a public hearing on the Review of the Communications Framework scheduled to be held in Brussels on Tuesday....
