Neiman Marcus Freed To Sue Debt Investor For Defamation
Law360 (April 11, 2019, 10:00 PM EDT) -- Marble Ridge Capital said it intends to appeal a state trial court’s decision that Neiman Marcus can sue the distressed debt investor for defamation over statements the firm made about its debt.
Dallas County District Court Judge Tonya Parker didn’t list her reasons on Tuesday for denying Marble Ridge Capital LP’s motion to dismiss the defamation suit, which Neiman Marcus Group Inc. filed in December 2018 in response to Marble Ridge’s public allegations that the retailer wasn’t complying with its financial agreements.
A Marble Ridge spokesperson said Wednesday in a statement the company was disappointed by the judge’s ruling.
