Supreme Court Refuses To Hear Generic Zoloft Case

Law360 (October 10, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Supreme Court declined Tuesday to hear an appeal drug maker Apotex Inc. brought in its quest to win approval for a generic version of Pfizer Inc.’s blockbuster antidepressant Zoloft.

Pfizer had asked for the appeal to be dismissed because Teva Pharmaceuticals has already started selling a generic of Zoloft. Apotex fought Pfizer’s request, saying the underlying legal issues were a controversy of great importance, not only to the company but to the industry and the public as well.
