FDA Speeds Up Disciplining Of Wayward Researchers

Law360, New York (August 10, 2009, 5:18 PM EDT) -- Changes to how the U.S. Food and Drug Administration disciplines medical researchers who do not follow government guidelines should allow the agency to handle each case faster and in a more transparent fashion, the agency has announced.

Federal law allows the agency to disqualify medical researchers from clinical testing for new drugs or devices if the researcher has disregarded rules designed to protect the test subjects. Researchers can also be banned, or debarred, from clinical trials if convicted of certain crimes related to drug products....
