Law360 (May 16, 2019, 8:04 PM EDT) -- Hospital chain Intermountain Healthcare has settled a high-profile case alleging unnecessary heart procedures, eliminating yet another opportunity for the U.S. Supreme Court to clarify how precisely False Claims Act suits must describe purportedly improper billing.
A representative of Intermountain and an attorney for a whistleblower doctor named Gerald Polukoff told Law360 on Thursday that a settlement has been reached. Utah-based Intermountain on Wednesday notified the Supreme Court that it will no longer pursue its petition challenging the Tenth Circuit's revival of Polukoff's suit.
