Urban Outfitters Faces Artist's Wrath Over T-Shirts

Law360, New York (August 12, 2009, 2:59 PM EDT) -- A Brooklyn, N.Y.-based artist has sued retail chain Urban Outfitters Inc. and T-shirt manufacturer New Name Inc. for copyright infringement, claiming the companies printed and sold virtual likenesses of her artwork on T-shirts despite her explicit refusal to enter into a license agreement with them.

Maya Hayuk lodged an amended complaint Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, updating a complaint filed two weeks ago to add New Name as a defendant.
