Suit Alleges Race Bias In Mayer Brown's NC Office

Law360, New York (August 17, 2009, 7:31 PM EDT) -- Mayer Brown LLP is facing a discrimination lawsuit filed by a former associate who claims she was fired for her race in 2008 after being used as a marketing tool to boost the firm's number of black attorneys.

Venus Y. Springs was fired from her position in the real estate practice group at the firm's Charlotte, N.C., office and replaced with a white employee, according to her complaint, removed to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina on Friday.
