Microsoft Wins Bid To Limit Xbox Patent Claims

Law360, New York (August 19, 2009, 2:38 PM EDT) -- Microsoft Corp. has won a bid to preclude two inventors from claiming that its Xbox 360 gaming consoles with wireless controllers infringe two patents and that the gaming consoles are liable for infringement claims under the doctrine of equivalents.

Judge Paul Borman of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan on Monday granted Microsoft’s motions in limine to preclude the inventors from claiming infringement via the Xbox’s wireless controllers and to exclude the plaintiffs’ doctrine of equivalents theory.
