Chevron Hit With Suit Over Texas Plant Emissions

Law360, New York (August 19, 2009, 6:34 PM EDT) -- Environmental groups the Sierra Club and Environment Texas have sued Chevron Phillips Chemical Co. LP, alleging it violated the federal Clean Air Act by emitting dangerous levels of carbon monoxide and other pollutants at a Texas plant.

In a complaint filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, the groups allege Chevron Phillips, a petrochemical joint venture between Chevron Corp. and ConocoPhillips, has emitted about 1.1 million pounds of excess chemicals since 2003 at its Cedar Bayou plant, 25 miles east...
