La. Landowners Want Class Cert. In Chesapeake Suit

Law360, New York (August 20, 2009, 1:17 PM EDT) -- A Louisiana landowner who accuses two Chesapeake Energy Corp. subsidiaries of reneging on a mineral lease agreement has asked a federal judge to certify a class that she says will exceed 1,000 would-be lessors.

In the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, Judy Marie Thomas on Aug. 19 moved for class certification in a suit asking for an order to force the subsidiaries to negotiate mineral leases on 800 acres of property around Caddo Parish, La.
