Appeals Court Rejects Free Speech Defense In Chiron Case

Law360, New York (October 13, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A California court has rejected an animal rights group’s appeal to have a case thrown out that accused the group of conspiring with and encouraging violent activists that bombed Novartis subsidiary Chiron Corp.’s headquarters in 2003.

Thursday’s ruling by the Court of Appeal for the State of California’s First Appellate District paves the way for the case Chiron filed against Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty USA Inc. (SHAC USA) in February 2004 to move forward.
