NH Hits North Star Up For $2M Over Enviro Deal

Law360, New York (August 25, 2009, 3:51 PM EDT) -- New Hampshire’s insurance commissioner has filed suit against North Star Reinsurance Corp. to recover roughly $2.2 million allegedly owed to now-defunct the Home Insurance Co. as part of the liquidated insurer’s settlement of environmental damage claims.

Roger A. Sevigny, head of the New Hampshire Insurance Department and liquidator of Home Insurance, filed suit Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, claiming North Star owes more than $2 million under Home’s reinsurance policies.
