Sweden Sued By E.C. Over Pay-TV Monopoly

Law360, New York (October 17, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Sweden failed to abolish a media monopoly held by its state-owned digital television provider, according to a lawsuit filed Tuesday by competition regulators for the executive arm of the European Union.

The complaint, filed in the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg, alleges that pay-TV company Boxer TV-Access AB holds an illegal monopoly for access to Sweden’s high-tech digital television network.
