Tennis Star Osaka Escapes Trainer's '20% Of Everything' Suit

Law360 (September 13, 2019, 8:40 PM EDT) -- Tennis superstar Naomi Osaka has prevailed over a former coach suing her for 20% of everything she's worth after a Florida state judge said the contract in question was clearly unenforceable because Osaka was 15 when her father signed it.

In a brief, seven-page order filed Friday, Broward County Circuit Court Judge David A. Haimes said it was obvious that tennis trainer Christophe Jean's suit should be dismissed, as Osaka requested in April.

Alex Spiro of Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan LLP, which represents Osaka, said he was "pleased with the decision."
