Avaya Denies Antitrust Counterclaims In Service Suit

Law360, New York (October 18, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A small telephone system maintenance provider has filed federal antitrust counterclaims against Avaya Inc., accusing the communications technology giant of monopolizing the industry for maintaining Avaya’s ubiquitous hardware.

The company, Washington state-based Continuant Inc., alleges that Avaya sued its smaller rivals to keep a grip on the maintenance monopoly started by AT&T Corp., which spun off Avaya’s successor in interest, Lucent Technologies Inc.
