E.C. Takes Legal Action Over E.On, Endesa Merger

Law360, New York (October 18, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- After months of warnings and ultimatums, the European Commission has taken legal action against Spain over its attempt to block the merger of energy companies E.On AG and Endesa SA.

The E.C. has sent a letter of formal notice to CNE, Spain’s competition authority, notifying the agency that infringement proceedings have been initiated.
