Blue Cross Of Calif. To Settle Rescission Suits

Law360, New York (October 18, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Following a spate of lawsuits and a $200,000 fine from a state regulator, Blue Cross of California will settle more than 70 lawsuits and claims arising from allegations that the company improperly rescinded health care coverage to patients who received expensive medical procedures, published reports say.

News of the settlements came to light in Wednesday’s edition of the Los Angeles Times.

Wednesday, a Blue Cross representative confirmed that mediations with plaintiffs in rescission suits were ongoing, but wouldn’t elaborate further.
