Chas Coal Told To Shovel Out $64M In Supply Spat

Law360, New York (September 2, 2009, 6:08 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has ordered Chas Coal LLC to fork over more than $64 million in a suit brought by Georgia Power Co. alleging that the coal company reneged on a supply contract.

Judge Harold Murphy of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia on Wednesday imposed a $64.4 million penalty on the coal supplier and gave Georgia Power permission to engage in post-judgment discovery into Chas' assets and liabilities for a four-month period.
