Developer Says Chinese Co. Ignored Drywall Suit

Law360, New York (September 3, 2009, 12:42 PM EDT) -- An Alabama construction company that filed a putative class action that has been consolidated with the multidistrict litigation over allegedly tainted Chinese-made drywall has asked for a default judgment against a manufacturer and seller of gypsum drywall.

Mitchell Co. Inc. filed a motion Sept. 2 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana asking for a default judgment against China-based Taishan Gypsum Co. Ltd.

Taishan has not responded to the plaintiff's complaint or entered an appearance, and it missed its July 20 deadline...
