Senators Demand UnitedHealth Options Documents

Law360, New York (October 19, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The chairman and a ranking member of the Senate Finance Committee have asked UnitedHealth Group Inc. to provide more details about its chief executive officer’s reported $1.1 billion departure package.

The health care provider’s board mandated that chief executive officer Dr. William McGuire step down from his post on or before Dec. 1 because of the options backdating scandal at the company. McGuire also relinquished his position as chairman of the company’s board of directors, as well as his place on the board.
