Russia Clears Microsoft Of XP Antitrust Charges

Law360, New York (September 8, 2009, 4:08 PM EDT) -- Russia's competition authority has reportedly dropped its investigation into Microsoft Corp. over possible anti-competitive activity related to the pricing and availability of the Windows XP operating system.

Russia's Federal Antimonopoly Service said Monday that it had found that Microsoft had not violated any of the country's antitrust laws, Reuters reported.

The FAS found that although Microsoft had reduced the supply of Windows XP in an effort to get users to switch over to the newer Windows Vista, XP was still widely available to Russian consumers, according...
