Halliburton Drilled In Patent Infringement Suit

Law360 (October 19, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal judge on Wednesday dismissed a patent lawsuit brought by Halliburton Energy Services Inc. against M-I LLC, finding the claims of the patent could not be construed.

In his decision, Judge Leonard Davis of the U.S. District Court in Tyler, Texas wrote that while a claim cannot be thrown out merely because it poses a difficult issue of claim construction, in this particular case, any possible construction of the patent would have included subjective terms that would render the claims indefinite.
