Recording Industry Takes Legal Action Against Alleged Pirates In Europe, Canada

Law360 (March 31, 2004, 12:00 AM EST) -- Recording industry associations in Denmark, Germany, Italy and Canada have taken legal action against alleged online music pirates, mimicking the U.S. legal tactic used by the Recording Industry Association of America.

The London-based International Federation of the Phonographic Industry said individuals in Europe and Canada had been hit with lawsuits, criminal charges or threatening letters. The federation promised similar actions in other countries in the coming months.
