Feds, Genesco Settle Over Long Island PCE Cleanup

Law360, New York (September 11, 2009, 5:38 PM EDT) -- Footwear and hat retailer Genesco Inc. has agreed to set up a $10.7 million guarantee for the U.S. government to cover cleanup costs associated with alleged tetrachloroethylene, or PCE, contamination at the company's facility in New York.

In a complaint and settlement agreement filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, Genesco did not admit any liability and did not acknowledge the release of hazardous substances at the Fulton Avenue Superfund Site in Garden City Park on Long Island....
