Federal Circuit Clears Unova's Patent Suit Vs. HP

Law360, New York (April 1, 2004, 12:00 AM EST) -- The U.S. Federal Circuit Court of Appeals has cleared the way for Unova to sue Hewlett-Packard over patents protecting computer battery technology, despite the fact that Unova had reached an earlier settlement with Compaq.

Unova filed its lawsuit against Hewlett-Packard and other computer makers in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California in 2002, only five days after Hewlett-Packard acquired rival Compaq. Compaq and Unova had settled disputes over the technology a year earlier.
