Illinois Supreme Court Gives Worker’s Comp A Boost

Law360, New York (October 20, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The Illinois Supreme Court ruled Thursday that an employee at RLI Insurance Co. should receive worker’s compensation even though she filed her application for benefits more than three years after the time when she first began noticing the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome.

“We decline to penalize an employee who diligently worked through progressive pain until it affected her ability to work and required medical treatment,” wrote Judge Thomas Fitzgerald for the court.
