Feds Seek Lower Sentence For Former Gen Re Exec

Law360, New York (September 14, 2009, 7:08 PM EDT) -- Prosecutors have urged the federal judge overseeing ex-General Reinsurance Group executive Richard Napier's sentencing for securities fraud to give Napier less than the five years suggested by federal guidelines, given his help in the U.S. government's probe of an accounting scandal at American International Group Inc.

In a motion for downward sentencing filed Sept. 9, prosecutors asked Judge Christopher F. Droney of the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut to show leniency Tuesday morning at the former senior vice president's hearing.
