Value Line Makes $48M Offer To Kill SEC Probe

Law360, New York (September 14, 2009, 2:05 PM EDT) -- Investment research firm Value Line Inc. has proposed a $48 million payout to put to rest a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission investigation related to commissions allegedly paid to the company's brokerage unit.

The company, which analyzes stocks and other securities and publishes the popular Value Line Investment survey, revealed the offer in an SEC filing Friday without admitting or denying the probe’s findings.
