China Tires Case Could Lead To Widespread Fallout

Law360, New York (September 14, 2009, 7:56 PM EDT) -- President Barack Obama's decision to impose tariffs on imported tires from China has drawn a swift and angry response from the Chinese government, including a complaint to the World Trade Organization, and lawyers said the decision will have broad implications for America's trade relationship with China as well as for U.S. trade policy in general.

On Friday, Obama announced tariffs of 35 percent on $1.8 billion worth of automobile tires from China, acting on a complaint by the United Steelworkers union.
