Darling, Valero Plan Biodiesel Joint Venture

Law360, New York (September 15, 2009, 6:28 PM EDT) -- Darling International Inc. and a subsidiary of Valero Energy Corp. are planning to form a joint venture to produce renewable diesel fuel from animal fats on a site adjacent to Valero's St. Charles refinery near Norco, La.

Irving, Texas-based Darling announced Monday that the companies were seeking a loan guarantee for the proposed joint venture from the U.S. Department of Energy's $8.5 billion fund for debt financing guarantees for projects that incorporate energy efficiency or renewable energy.
