NLRB Clears Newspaper Union Of Wrongdoing

Law360 (October 23, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The National Labor Relations Board has reportedly dismissed the first of two claims brought by the beleaguered Santa Barbara News-Press, which accused union officials of misappropriating the newspaper’s name and trademark to create the false impression that management endorsed the union.

In a letter to the newspaper’s attorney, NLRB regional director James McDermott wrote Friday that the Graphic Communications Conference of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters had not committed any wrongdoing before a September election, at which the newsroom employees voted 33-6 to join the union,...
