Calif. Senate To Examine Soda-Obesity Correlation

Law360, New York (September 17, 2009, 4:19 PM EDT) -- The California state senator who led a campaign to require restaurants to disclose nutritional information has set his sights on another growing health concern: a possible link between soda and obesity.

Sen. Alex Padilla, a Democrat, said the state Senate's Select Committee on Obesity and Diabetes would hold hearings in November to discuss a study by the California Center for Public Health Advocacy and the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research that found a correlation between soda consumption and obesity in the state.
