SEC Creates New Risk Division Headed By Law Prof.

Law360, New York (September 17, 2009, 2:52 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has created a new unit to analyze risks in the financial markets and has appointed a law professor to head up the division.

Combining the Office of Economic Analysis and the Office of Risk Assessment, the new division of Risk, Strategy and Financial Innovation will provide the SEC with analysis and research related to new developments in the world of finance, the SEC announced Wednesday.
