Judge Blocks Strikes For Mesaba Unions

Law360 (October 24, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In a blow to unions in the bankruptcy proceedings of Mesaba Aviation Inc., a judge on Monday blocked their right to impose a strike, permitting the troubled airline to impose pay cuts later this week.

Mesaba, a feeder carrier for Northwest Airlines Corp., had previously received permission to impose pay cuts on its pilots, flight attendants and mechanics. When its unions warned that they would strike in response, Mesaba asked Judge Gregory Kishel to block the strike.
